We have Tamworth and Hereford pigs available for late August / early September.
We understand that meat yield and cost can be confusing.
We expect the pigs to be somewhere between 315 and 345 pounds, based on our experience last year. This weight is the live weight, not the yield/meat weight. The image below shows the yields to expect. This shows approx. yield from a 260-pound hog. Since we expect our pigs to be slightly larger, at roughly 315-345, the amounts shown on the sheet should be incrementally higher.
Cost is determined by weight, and will vary according to how you would like your share processed. We expect the pig cost to be somewhere around $700-$750 for a half. This again, is determined by weight, so we will not know the exact amount until they are slaughtered. The payment for the processing ($250) will be made direct to the processor. If preferred, we can take your check to the processor the day of the processing. The remaining balance ($450-$500) will be paid to Kent Meadows Farm, which is the cost for the pig itself.
If you would prefer to buy a quarter share, cost should be expected to be around $375-$400. Processing fee will be $150, and the remaining balance would be paid to Kent Meadows Farm.
A few weeks prior to processing, we will send you a processing sheet. This sheet can be filled out as to how you would like your share to be processed.
August 12 is our processing date. Processing typically takes 3-4 weeks. Your pork should be ready for pickup either the first or second week in September.
Meat will be vacuum-packed and frozen, ready for your freezer.
To reserve your share, a $100 deposit is required.

Thank you!!
